Here's how to set up and use Bixby on your Samsung (Android 8.x) smartphone.
- Bixby requires an active Samsung ID to be added to the Samsung device running on Android™.
- If the Samsung ID credentials can't be remembered, they can be retrieved or reset.
- Bixby Voice requires simplified view. If prompted, tap OK to continue using Bixby.
- Completion of initial setup is required to disable the Bixby key or Bixby Voice.
Bixby Setup
- From the Home screen, swipe from the left to right or press theBixby button.
- From the Bixby screen, tapNextas needed then tapSign in.
- From the Bixby Voice screen, select the appropriate language then tapConfirm.
- From the Samsung Account screen, enter the appropriate information then tapSign In.
- From the Samsung Account screen, review your profile picture then tapDoneto continue.
- Review the terms and conditions, tap (check) all appropriate checkboxes then tapNext(located in the lower-right) to continue.
- From the Give it a try screen, follow the tutorial to proceed or tap Skip to continue.
- From the Help Bixby learn your voice screen, follow the voice training or tapSkipto continue.
- From the Unlock your phone with your voice screen, follow the voice password setup or tapSkipto continue.
- From the Teach Bixby your pronunciation style screen, follow the enunciation instructions or tapSkipto continue.
- From the Open [app/service] and [perform a task] screen, review the available options then tapNextto continue.
- From the Bixby works with these apps screen, review the available apps then tapNextto continue.
- From the Bixby is experimenting with more apps screen, review the available apps then tapNextto continue.Tap to turn app experimentation on

- After completion of setup, the Bixby home screen is displayed.
Bixby Voice
- Press and hold the Bixby button on the side of the device while speaking commands.Alternatively, from the Bixby home screen, tap the Bixby Voice icon

- From Bixby Voice popup, review the prompt then tapFull screenas needed.
- From Bixby Voice screen, review or search available commands then tap the Bixby icon to begin listening.Alternatively, press and hold theBixby buttonat any time to speak commands.
Bixby Vision Setup
- From the Camera, tap theBixby Vision icon

Alternatively, from the Bixby home screen, tap theBixby Vision icon. - From the Bixby Vision screen, review the information then tapStartto continue.
- To continue, review the terms and conditions, tap (check) the appropriate checkboxes then tapOK(located in the lower-right).
- If prompted for permissions, tapAllowto continue setup.
Bixby Vision
- From the Camera, tap theBixby Vision icon

- From Bixby Vision, tap the appropriate category (e.g., Image, Place, Shopping, QR Code, Text, etc.) then follow the on-screen prompts.
Bixby Settings
- From the Bixby screen, tap theMenu icon
then tap
Settings. - From Settings, select to modify any of the following:
- Cards: Select apps to show as cards on Bixby Home.Tap to turn on
or off

- Show on Lock screen: Select apps to show as cards when the screen is locked. Tap to turn on or off.
- Apps with cards: Displays all apps available with Bixby Home cards.
- Bixby Voice: Tap to turn on or off.
- Background color: Adjust the background color and earn Bixby XP.
- Language and speaking style: Modify the available languages.
- Voice Feedback: Tap to turn on or off.
- Feedback style: Modify the feedback style (i.e., short or full).
- Voice wake-up: Use your voice to wake and control your phone.
- Unlock with voice password: Unlock your phone by saying your voice password aloud.
- Enhanced voice recognition: Improve recognition based on your pronunciation style.
- Dictation on keyboard: Tap to turn on or off.
- Read aloud in high quality: Tap to turn on or off.
- Voice apps and services: View the list of apps you can control with your voice.
- Bixby labs:View the list of apps Bixby is learning to use. Tap to turn on or off.
- Auto-update 3rd party app plug-in: Adjust the update settings (i.e., Off, Using Wi-Fi only, At any time.)
- Auto update using mobile data: Tap to turn on or off.
- Notifications: Tap to turn the following on on or off. Bixby Home cards. Edge-of-screen alerts. Marketing information.
